What is SAP SuccessFactors?
SAP SuccessFactors is SAP’s cloud HR system (HRIS / HCM) suite. It brings HR, payroll, recruiting, performance and learning — once spread across separate systems — onto one platform and one set of employee data.
For mid-sized and large enterprises the value isn’t just “a new system”: it is an HR operating foundation that spans locations, keeps improving, and provides the data layer for AI.
Four reasons companies choose SuccessFactors
One trusted set of people data
HR, job and pay data on one platform, so processes, reports and AI share the same foundation.
Lighter processes, better experience
Self-service, mobile and conversational assistants let employees and managers handle HR in everyday tools.
See change coming
Real-time visibility of workforce structure and skill gaps to act early on attrition and hiring.
Local compliance, global scale
Vendor-maintained localisation for many countries, suited to consistent governance across sites.
From hiring to pay: a people management loop grounded in business evidence
SuccessFactors isn’t a pile of modules — it’s one management process: the company sees every contribution and investment, and managers apply consistent rules to goals, performance and reward. Select a stage to see the modules behind it and our implementation perspective.
Data foundation: SAP Integration Suite connects HR, finance and operational evidence; reward rules keep formula versions and review records.

Joule: AI built into HR processes
AI in SuccessFactors isn’t a separate tool — it’s embedded in daily processes. Three layers explain how it works:
Assistant
The conversational entry point. It understands what you want to do and calls the right agents and skills.
Agent
An AI worker focused on one task, using company data to complete part of a process — for example preparing a performance conversation.
Skill
A clear, predictable single action, such as looking up data or triggering a transaction.
CHRO
Real-time workforce insight for strategic decisions and early warning on critical roles and skill gaps.
HR managers & people leaders
AI summarises contributions, prepares reviews and drafts feedback, leaving more time for coaching.
Payroll team
Detect anomalies before pay day and answer payroll questions for more accurate payroll every cycle.
HR service centre
The assistant answers common policy questions; only complex requests become cases.

SAP SuccessFactors FAQ
SAP SuccessFactors is a cloud SaaS human capital management suite updated regularly by SAP; SAP HCM is the on-premise ERP HR module, highly customisable but upgraded on your own schedule. They can be combined — for example core HR in the cloud and payroll on premise.
No. Most companies start with Employee Central plus Performance & Goals to create a single source of employee data, then add recruiting, learning, compensation or payroll as needed.
SuccessFactors offers localisation for many countries. In practice you can use cloud payroll, or keep an existing local payroll system integrated with SuccessFactors; we help assess the best architecture based on regulation, rule complexity and cost.
It depends on scope, number of countries and data quality. Core HR plus performance typically takes 4–6 months; multi-country rollouts or payroll need additional parallel runs and phased go-lives.
SuccessFactors releases twice a year, and organisations keep changing. Long-term AMS support with regular release assessments keeps the system delivering value.
